The Air Fare Shopper (AFS) is a product that works with Sabre Red Workspace. It is a tool available to subscribed Sabre-Connected Agencies that will automate all the Consultant’s manual search tools, such as JR, JA, WPN (all variations). AFS find the best available fares within the filters organized by the Agent. It allows Super-Users to configure it with markups/discounts as per Agency’s policies.

Configuration includes enabling / disabling other Super-Users, designating Agency’s operating days/hours, statutory holidays, Airlines to be filtered OUT from searches, etc. It has many improvements to search criteria (RT, OW, OJ, Multi-segments) with innovative twists and tweaks. Once best available options are returned the agent can still scroll up and down either or both, outbound and inbound and select those the agent/client prefers from our new display.

The Flight Engine (TFE) is an Internet Booking Engine (IBE), developed by professionals in the travel industry and in technology. It is extremely fast and robust and enables efficient online booking of airlines’ available inventories. TFE offers its services to both B2B and B2C customers. TFE is currently connected to the world’s leading GDS provider, Sabre and its Web Services and IPCC platforms.

Sabre Global Distribution System (GDS), owned by Sabre Holdings, is used by more than 350,000 travel agents around the world with more than 400 airlines.

Education and background: B.A. in Pure and Applied Maths and Masters in History. Held various teaching positions in India, Europe and Canada. Completed his post-graduate certificate in Education from the London Institute of Education. Taught for 10 years in Ottawa High Schools and obtained a Masters in Education. In 1976 he opened Handa Travel with focus on both Corporate and Leisure markets.

E-commerce Strategy/Presence: Handa Travel has just completed and deployed a new e-commerce solution aligned exclusively with Sabre. (TTC Travel Technology Company, developed an IBE (The Flight Engine, a B2B2C solution) and Air Fare Shopper, a Sabre Red App). Funding is backed by Handa Travel with the intention to incorporate the play of the mid to small market consolidators in Canada. Their belief is it can and will displace the competitors offering as it is the one of the few Sabre scan-sensitive (deploys Sabre Web Services) engines in the Canadian marketplace today. It is an Air Only engine.
